Dell EMC Unity integration on v4.5 EMC software [case 03580274]
Hi,
Due to security and bug fixes we had to upgrade our Dell EMC Unity 300 array to the latest firmware. After updating the firmware we are no longer able to use the Veeam integration and make use of hardware snapshots.
According to Veeam support this is due to incompatibilty with the latest firmware and there is no sight on a solution. Only option is to stop using hardware snapshots and use Direct SAN connection. This will cause connectivity problems due to long snapshot commits as the VMware snapshots will become much larger.
Downgrading the array is not an option as that is not possible without data loss and it would put us back to the old situation with corresponding bugs.
Please advise.

Hi Frank,
thanks for the request.
We are clearly stating what we support and not in our release notes:
https://www.veeam.com/veeam_backup_9_5_ ... _en_rn.pdf
Regarding the 4.5 support we worked with Dell EMC for quite some time to get this supported and will release support for it with Update 4b. Update 4b will be available likely this week.
Please ask the support to give you access to it as soon as it is available to them. (support will get more early access before it goes to the download page).
Thanks Andreas

Hi Andreas,
thanks for the quick reply!
Unfortunately we encountered a bug that randomly restarted the controller on our array, so we didn't have any option but to update the array. We'll get back in touch with support for the Update 4b release.
In this case we can manage with a few weeks, but I think it's quite strange that support told us that it could take months for a fix/update to arrive; if it was ever going to be fixed at all.
This sounds much better

That was pretty late addition to Update 4b... it is potentially not communicated yet. Sorry for the inconvinience.

Recently (27 june) Dell EMC recently released OE 5.0.0.0.5.116 for Unity.
This version is (unfortunatly) not listed in the release notes of Veeam 9.5 update 4b, is there any chance Veeam will be compatible ?

We're trying to get access to the system for verification tests. So far we cannot state whether it is supported in the current update or will require any changes on our side.
