Hey @foggy,
thanks for the Info.
I should have read the Release Notes a bit slower

Looks like an issue causing APD panic on ESXI when dismounting datastores in v12.1 running the plug-in v2.0.5.

500T running PowerStoreOS 3.5.0.2.

I’ll raise a support case, was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Thanks..

So just to clarify - if we are running "host groups" on our powerstore (which we are).. this causes issues with the powerstore plugin?

As mentioned above, this is a general limitation, not one related to the Dell PowerStore plug-in exclusively.

Has anyone installed the 4.0 PowerStore upgrade yet? If yes, does the plugin still work?

popjls, they added support for PowerStoreOS 4.0 in the latest v2.1.8 plug-in release.
KB: https://www.veeam.com/kb4243

I follow the recommended release, so won't be on 4.0 for some time. I can confirm however, that 3.6.1.1 runs the latest plug-in fine.

I saw some reports with frozen vCenters in 7.0.3 independent of Veeam that are addressed with the 7.0u3c update. Please update your vcenter to the latest patch level.

we are currently on v 1.0.47 of the plugin. Our power stores are currently on version 2 of code. We want to upgrade the powerstores but the current plugin only supports 3.x and newer. It looks like version 1.0.50 of the pluggin supports v2 of powerstore and v3.6. Do we need that version to upgrade your powerstores. We will be upgrading in stages and will have a time period with both 2.x and 3.x powerstores. If we need the 1.0.50 version where do we get it.

Hi Shawn, I recommend using version 1.0.48 as an intermediate version during the upgrade stage - it supports both 2.x and 3.x. If I'm not mistaken, version 1.0.50 had 3.x as the minimum supported PowerStore OS version. You can request version 1.0.48 via Veeam support.

After that, I recommend upgrading to the latest available plug-in version, which is 2.1.8.

I am looking into this again today and see there is a Version: 2.1.8 of the Dell PowerStore Plugin out there now. How many of you have installed and used this version? My PowerStore 3200T is currently running 3.6.1.1 (Release, Build 2284788, 2024-04-24 20:35:25, Retail). The info on the site says it supports PowerStore T series v3.x so I assume it is good to go now.

Just want to be sure that I don't cause any issues when I install this and setup my SAN.

Hi Alan, I don't see any other posts from you earlier in this thread so not sure what kind of issue you had with the plug-in. Version 2.1.8 supports PowerStore OS 3.6 so you're good to go.

Out of curiosity, can someone confirm if the latest version, 2.1.8, is compatible with the latest PowerStore OS 4.0.0.2365061? Our security teams wants critical security patches in ASAP, however without being 100% sure it will be compatible I cannot use it.

Based on information of Dell that wrote the plug-in it is Version 3.0 and later of PowerStore OS. Maybe open a case at Dell and get there confirmation.

Hi Matt, version 4.0 is supported, and we haven't heard from Dell that minor patches could break compatibility.

It's odd that I don't show my posts here either. I know I posted here because the only reason I see this thread is that it is listed in the Your Posts link at the top of the page (before making this post).
Either way, I did remove the old Plug-In and I installed the latest one. I configured my DR SAN in there and ran a single test backup and that seemed to work fine.
The next morning I had the same issue I had with the old plug-in. My DR VMware was unusable. I had a host with CPU maxed out and a bunch of VM on that host that were inaccessible.
I ended up having to power down that host bu pulling power and forcing the bad VMs off. Then I was able to power all of that back up and get my vCenter responding again.

Maybe the old plug-in didn't fully uninstall or didn't get overwritten properly by the new plug-in? Dunno but now I am very concerned about trying this again and possibly bringing down my DR environment.

Hi Alan, this is very strange and I can not see any relationship between the storage plug-in and the DR hosts.
The plug-in interacts directly with the storage and not even speak directly with the hosts.

I think this is more a coincidence and I would open a VMware support ticket to get to the bottom of why the VMware DR hosts where not accessible.
