different time taken for 2 mailbox servers in DAG and in sam

Post by cpinto »

Hi

New here

I have 2 mailbox server in a DAG configured in a single Veeam backup job.
The time taken for the 1st server is considerably low in comparison to the 2nd server.

Name Status Start time End time Size Read Transferred Duration Details
EXMB01 Success 11:00:47 PM 12:11:13 AM (+1) 2.1 TB 45.5 GB 28.4 GB 1:10:26
EXMB02 Success 12:11:16 AM 2:55:00 AM 2.1 TB 46.3 GB 29.0 GB 2:43:44

Why is there a difference in the duration for the backup in case of the 2nd mailbox server?

appreciate anyone's help

Hi, hard to guess as there could be many reasons... from simply like different transport modes, to those harder to see like bad fragmentation of VM disks. Debug logs may provide some hints. Thanks!

If the backup infrastructure and the transport are the same, then perhaps one server is suffering from a storage performance issue. You should investigate underlying storage of second mailbox server.
Exchange backup means a lot of random reads, if the filesystem is heavily fragmented and the underlying storage is too weak then you get poor performance
