Direct storage access Backup ULTRA Slow
Hello everybody,
I have a problem with [SAN] Backups.
My scenario is:
Backup Server and Proxy Server on a Physical machine with 96GB of RAM.
This server has access to a VMFS Datastore over FC. This datastore is a IBM v7000 Lun.
I can see the datastore on Windows disk management, offline and healthy.
The problem is, when i start a job, i can see that the SAN mode is in use, but speeds are ultra slow (200-400KBPS). I don't know what to do anymore. Does anyone already faced such a slow performance o SAN backups?
I opened a case but nothing conclusing yet. 03474362

Did you configure MPIO on Windows Server?
MPIO allows server to use multiple path to LUNs.

HI Davoud,
Yes MPIO is installed and configured using the vendor DSM, from IBM. It's working fine.

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.
That sounds really strange. I sent some ideas from my side to support as I do not fully understand the Spanish case
Do you have a chance to try backup from storage snapshots (BfSS)? Because with BfSS we use different technology to transfer data. (That would require flashcopy license on the IBM storage).
Best regards,
Hannes

Hi
I had a similar problem. Fix it by changing the port's switch port speed from the server.
