OK - I think Disk Digests are well established as Metadata which allows Veeam to replicate only the Delta from Source to *_replica VM. Per Veeam documentation, the Metadata repository is supposed to be at the Source site.
My question is: What are the determining factors for the speed which Disk Digests are calculated?
1. How does the read speed of the Source VM disk (Source SAN/NAS or *.VBK) affect Digests?
2. How does the read speed of the target *_replica VM disk (Target SAN/NAS) affect Digests?
3. How does the network latency between sites affect Digests?

Re: Disk Digests question
Hi John!
If you store metadata on a source site (as it's recommended), disk digests calculation speed will depend on read speed of the source VM disk only.
In this case, performance of target infrastructure or network latency between sites is transparent for disk digests calculation process because it doesn't interact with target.
Network latency between sites could affect digests calculation speed if you stored replica metadata on target, there is a traffic circulating between local and remote sites.
But it's not recommended and it's better to avoid such configurations.
Thanks!
