Hello,
I am maintaining a 14 day on-site backup chain and then doing backup copy jobs off-site for DR and archival. I setup my on-site storage with RAID 10 for performance while sacrificing a lot of disk space. I have it setup in the chain to do a synthetic full one a week now in the backup chain. My question is what are the benefits of adding this synthetic full in the chain instead of just sticking with 13 days in increments to save disk space?

Re: do I need synthetic full backups in the chain
Hello Josh,
There are benefits of shorter chains such as faster restore and slightly better sustainability. But there are not much of difference between 7 and 14 points long chains.
Thanks!
