I am addressing a Change Management request to increase replica restore points (based on hourly RPO) from 14 to 24, in order to cover the gap between daily incremental backups.
Source is all-SSD vSAN. Target is all-SSD IP SAN. VMware vSphere 6.7
The job(s) process quickly at the source (3-5 minutes, even for the largest and most active VMs) but "Applying retention policy" (AKA: removing the snapshot at the target) takes 45-120 minutes!
Just wondering if this is due to the increase in replica restore points?

Do more replica restore points cause slower snapshot removal?

Re: Do more replica restore points cause slower snapshot removal?
Hello,
many snapshots make the snapshot handling on the target side taking longer, yes.
It has nothing to do with Veeam. Just create 24 snapshot on a production machine and try to remove one of them
Best regards,
Hannes
