Doubt Retention Backups
Hi,
I would like to perform a retention as follows.
30 days within my performance tier.
4 weeks
12 months
5 years
In my capacity tier.
What is the best strategy? I don't want to offload every day, in SOBR I want to leave only the move enabled.
Can I make a synthetic backup twice a week? Example Wednesday and Sunday?

The most straightforward method would be to enable "Keep certain full backups longer for archival purposes" see https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110. Yes you can schedule synthetic fulls twice a week in the advanced storage settings for your job.

Hi Ronn, Thanks for answer.
But who will have priority in retaining the job? Or the Scale-Out?
Example in my job I set 30 days, ok?
In scale-out I left the move of backups inactive for every 7 days, in this scenario how many points will I have internal, 7?

Re: Doubt Retention Backups
Correct set your regular job retention to 30 days. The GFS policy "ignores" the 30 days and saves the weekly/monthly/annual points in addition to the regular backups. To clarify the move policy should be set to 30 days also otherwise you'll end up with 7 days in your performance tier and 20+ daily's in your capacity tier in addition to the GFS increments.

Ronn, last doubt.
Is there any other method of keeping the 30 days in my performance tier and moving data to the capacity tier on a weekly basis?

Re: Doubt Retention Backups
The closest we'd get is if you enable copy in addition to move however that while that would allow your 30 days to remain on performance tier you would also be creating daily copies on capacity tier. The good news is that after the initial full upload to capacity tier all subsequent offloads are forever forward regardless of the source backup type...
