Doubts about licensing - Veeam Backup & Replication - VMware vSphere

Post by samirmacario »

Hey guys,

I am learning more about the tool, and I would like to understand more about licensing for Veeam Backup & Replication - VMware vSphere
I have a question that Product Documents does not fully answer.

Example:
Type - Perpertual
Edition - Enterprise Plus

My concessions sockets - type vSphere
10/10 sockets in use

Is it possible to update the license to add as many hots as I want?
Why does each host consume a total of 2 sockets?

Sorry for the question, I'm new to the community.

thanks!

Hi Samir,

Socket in Veeam license = CPU socket on the motherboard of ESXi host occupied by a physical CPU unit.
Your hosts have 2 physical processors, thus why require 2 CPU Veeam licenses each accordingly.
Yes, you are able to add more sockets to Veeam license to scale up with your infrastructure needs, contact Veeam Sales reps or your partner of choice to extend your current license above 10 sockets.

Veeam license sockets as detected by the hypervisor. There are sometimes AMD CPUs that are detected by the Hypervisor as 2 CPUs.
