download freeware for Veeam

Hello Support

I am completely a new person here and I want to download freeware for Veeam and start to understand the product,
this is to prepare for future business opportunities.

Once I install it I want to backup and restore VM's

Can you please give some pointers to make a start ? I have a windows laptop running version is 10.

I also have VM test machine.

And this VM is running on Hyper-V built in Windows 10, isn't it? If so, then, the only option you have is to use Veeam Agent for Windows (that you can download here). Thanks!

I have a test Linux VM . It is running on VMware. Vsphere/Esxi v6
We use windows 10 clients to run the VMware Vsphere web client to access all our Linux VMs

And it's a paid vSphere version, right? In this case Veeam Backup and Replication Community Edition is what you need. Thanks!

I am still not very clear . The requirement to download and install to try it out is not clear.

We have VMWare Linux VM hosts ( I have one test system to play around)
However, I do not have access to the main VMWARE server to do my testing. We are not allowed to do that.
All I have is a windows 10 laptop and a Test Linux VM. I want to install free version of VEEAM backup tool and test it.

Could you please provide some instructions ?

If you don't have an access to virtualization host, then, the only option you have is to back this machine up with our agent solution.

More specifically, Veeam Agent for Linux.

Simply put, if you are not using vCenter to manage your VMs, the only way Veeam can backup your VMs is through an Agent, which will need to be installed on each VM.
Note: You will also need to tag the "backup job" so that the Agent runs the job not the Veeam server, as well as including password secrets for each system.
With vCenter access, then Veeam can do extra stuff - like create a snapshot of the VM, and backup the snapshot, instead of impacting the live instance.
The Free/Community version is limited in other ways as well, but Free/Community should get you through the worst of it.
