Duplicate UUID question

Post by pmalagese »

If I were to change the UUID on the destination replica vm would this break the replication?

It should not break it, however the next replication job cycle the UUID would be changed back. Can you please tell me why do you need to do that?

I have server monitoring software that has an issue when discovering ESX server VM's. It doesn't handle duplicate UUIDs well.

Do you use Veeam Availability Suite or just Veeam B&R? The reason I ask this is that we have Veeam ONE (part of VAS) for monitoring/reporting capabilities that does not have this problem.

We're just using Veeam B&R. We also monitor physical servers, devices, and applications.

Ok, in this case I believe you should do the override for replicated VMs manually. Since they are powered off most of the time, then it should be ok to do that.

Override as in change the UUID in the VMX file? Then it would still revert back after the next replication, right?
