During Veeam Backup, ESX server send HB alert SNMP trap
Hi,
New to Veeam Backup & Replication 7.
Recently I found during Veeam Backup, ESX 5.1 server keeps sending many of vmHBDetected SNMP alerts about "Virtual machine detects a loss in guest heartbeat" or "Virtual machine detects or regains the guest heartbeat" which come from VMware Traps MIB.
I want to identify what is the issue? Either the interval is not long enough(default is 30 seconds) or some others cause the guests lost HB with ESX 5.1 server?
Any suggestion will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Elaine

Do you see this issue in the begging or in the end of the backup job? Have you tried to reproduce this behavior by manually creating snapshot, keeping the snapshot open for the same time as backup normally takes, and then deleting it?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Vladimir is pointing to the right direction, as most likely this happens on snapshot removal operation. In order to address this, I would suggest changing the default interval to 60 seconds and see if that fixes the issue or not.

Thanks v.Eremin and Vitaliy S.
We scheduled the backup. But I will try manually backup to see if it is due to snapshot removal operation.

Under /etc/vmware/hostd/config.xml, I cannot find the "heartbeatDelayInSecs". Is it somewhere else? Or am I in wrong direction? I am using ESXi 5.1.

Elaine, I haven't found any information on how to change this setting, maybe it would be quicker to ask the same question to VMware support team.
