EMC Unity snapshot integration and parallel tasks
Hi, we are planning to implement Veeam backup integration with EMC Unity storage snapshots. Therefore, we need to move to physical proxy servers and in order to provide for high availability of the backup infrastructure in case of a physical server fail, we're planning to invest in two physical backup proxy servers.
We have two questions:
1. Is it possible for two physical backup proxies to perform backup tasks in parallel when backing up from Unity storage snapshots?
I see that VNXe has a limitation in this regard - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... l?ver=95u4
but there are no limitations of this kind mentioned for Unity.
2. Is it supported to perform backup from Unity Datastore snapshots? We are currently using Unity/vSphere integration which allows us to directly provision vSphere datastores from Unisphere and the resulting storage objects are not LUNs in Unisphere, but they are called Datastores.
Veeam is 9.5u4a, Unity is 550F with Unity OE 5.0.
Thanks!

Re: EMC Unity snapshot integration and parallel tasks
Hello,
1. I see no reason why it should not work. Did you see any issues? If yes, please post the case number for reference.
2. yes. It's just a matter of wording.
The only thing that does not look good to me is your OE 5.0. Even update 4b only support 4.5 (4a does not suppport 4.5)
Best regards,
Hannes

1. is no limitation at any of our storage integration. You can even backup one VM with multiple disk on multiple daastores across multiple Proxies.

Re: EMC Unity snapshot integration and parallel tasks
Thanks guys. Is there a Veeam - Unity HCL available? When i Google for it, Veeam KB 2285 shows up, but the link to it redirects to Veeam Knowledge Base homepage.
