Enabling "Previous Versions" in Windows VMs

In addition to using Veeam for backups, I was considering turning on the shadow copies (Previous Versions) for file shares on our file server, just as an extra backup. How does this affect Veeam? Will my backup jobs increase in size due to the extra copies Windows keeps around under the hood? Will the server doing VSS cause any conflicts with the backup job (i.e. should I only do the shadow copies outside of the backup window)?
