Enabling the Deleted file blocks on all backup ?
Hi All,
I'm using Veeam Backup & Replication 9.0.0.1491 (Update 1), and I'm running out of backup repository disk space.
I noticed that in the new VM backup job, there is new option called "Exclude deleted file blocks" it shows as recommended ?
So is it safe to enable it for all backup job at once or it must be staged first ?
May I also know what’s the impact in enabling it on the Windows Server 2012 R2 File server running with data deduplication already enabled within the VM ?
Thanks.

Depends the backup method, however, it will not free up the space on the target repository immediately, anyway.

You need to perform an active full backup with this option first.

Foggy, what about if I let the backup reset itself according to the retention policy ? will it honour the new checkbox option above ?

If you mean performing active full according to the job schedule, then yes, guest OS dirty blocks will be skipped during this operation. However this doesn't affect existing backup files in any way.
