Yes, Veeam B&R configuration is preserved if you point the setup to the same SQL database, no need to re-create jobs and start backups from scratch. Anyway, even in case of new jobs, you can map them to your existing backup files to avoid full backup on the first run.

I commented the line above out of the vmx file and tried the backup again and it worked.

Will this cause issues later on down the track?

Hi to all, anyone know where is that file located at ? And does it really works for Version5 Backup&Replication

VMX configuration file is located on the datastore, in the folder where virtual machine files are stored. It is a simple text file that can be edited with Notepad.

I cannot comment on v5, since the discussed issue was introduced in v6.1 and fixed in the patch to this version. However, you can try it on your own and see whether this helps. Thanks.

Datastore is attached to the corresponding ESX(i) host and used as a location for your Virtual Machines.

The .vmx file is typically located in the directory on the datastore where you created the virtual machine.

Additionally, there is an existing discussion at VMware Community Forum which is primarily concerned with editing .vmx-files; might be worth reviewing:

Hope this helps.
Thanks.

Yes, in case your host uses local storage.

Do you use vSphere client software in your environment? Among tons of other capabilities for managing vSphere, it allows to browse the datastores connected to the host.
