ESXi 6.0 Express Patch 6 breaks Instant VM Recovery

ESXi 6.0 Express Patch 6 (build 3825889)

This patch is reported to break Instant VM Recovery and all dependent functionality (SureBackup, U-AIR).
We have a number of customers affected and are opening a case with VMware while searching for workarounds.

That patch affected my environment. Luckily I was able to revert to the previous version of ESXi using these instructions:

can you tell us more about the issue? Is the reason cbt related (I ask because I acutally have some troubles with cbt and vSphere 6 Build 3825889).

I haven't logged a call yet but I reverted the two DLL's that I was given as the hotfix as it added a whole lot of problems in my backups...reverting the DLL's cured the issues...so I'm wary of the hotfix...

I'll log a call and reapply the DLL's to capture the logs and the issues...

If you mean major Veeam B&R release (not v9 update), then it will be included in Veeam B&R v9.5 coming later this year.

I only have 2 working hosts on this patch, 5 others are still on ESXi 5, 3086167. I have one ESXi6 3825889 that is currently unmanageable because the hostd service will not stay started. Apparently in 6.0u2 and this patch also have a bug in vSphere replication 6.1+. If you have a VM with multiple disks but you only replicate one (or some) of those disks, after some time whatever ESXi 6 host the VM is running on will crash hostd, and hostd will not start up until the machine is removed from the vmInventory.xml.

Sorry to get a little off subject here, but the bottom line is, in my situation just do Instant Recovery to one of the 5 ESXi hosts still running 5.0, 3086167? Backups seem to be running fine for VM's on my two 6.0 machines.
