We moved from on-premises Exchange to O365 earlier this year, and I still haven't commissioned my old Exchange box. One question I have before doing so is what happens to my Veeam backups of the Exchange 2010 VM after I decommission and remove the VM entirely. Can I still do restores directly from the backups without Exchange being in the picture at all, or are these old backups useless after that?
Just trying to determine if I should keep these old backups around in case I need to restore something old. And if restores ARE possible even with Exchange completely gone, what is the restore mechanism? PST, email the items via SMTP, or ?
Thanks!

Re: Exchange item level restore after removing Exchange?
Correct. You can restore messages as .msg files, and other items as .pst ones. Thanks. Can I still do restores directly from the backups without Exchange being in the picture at all?
