Exchange Restore

Post by cdickerson »

I need to restore a mailbox of a user to a PST file that has been deleted from Exchange and AD. Going through the Wizard it looks for a active account in Exchange/AD. Is there a way to pull this Mailbox out of the backup without having a account/mailbox in the live systems? thanks

You could perform a file level recovery and access the database and logfiles from it with a separate tool like Kroll Ontrack PowerControls for Exchaange or similar tools to extract items from the DB to a pst. Or maybe use a Recovery Storage Group on your Exchange server.

Or you could use SureBackup job to fire up your Exchange server along with DC in the virtual lab (using the restore point created at the moment when this user existed) and export the mailbox via native tools.
