External backup
Hi guys
one of our customer chose to run the backup external to a External Media
we've configured the backup to external hard disk of 2 TB.
is there is anyway to encrypt the backup files ? i've seen a possibility to encrypt the configuration backup with a password.
is this enough or i need to encrypt the files too ?
let say someone took the hard disk, he wouldn't be able to read the backups files without password of the configuration backup ?
what is the best scenario to create a backup to the external media.
File copy of backup copy ?
thank you

Re: External backup
Hi,
Please check Backup Job Options - Storage - Advanced - Storage - Encryption. Is that what you need? Also please note, that there is a loss protection feature available.
Thank you.

Re: External backup
The better option is to use a Backup Copy Job. Main reasons are:what is the best scenario to create a backup to the external media
- Backup Copy Job copies backups wisely, i.e. it does not perform transfer of data that's been already copied whereas File Copy copies the whole directory/file during the run.
- Backup Copy Job creates a ready-to-restore separate backup chain with an independent retention period. You don't have to map your backups if you use - Backup Copy Job, in contrast to copying backups with File Copy Job.
Thank you.

Re: External backup
There is no such option as "delete older than". There is an option to set how many restore points to keep, combined with an accurate scheduling, it allows to configure a very specific retention policy for your backups, so your outdated backups get pruned automatically.does it delete olds files ? if i chose older than specifieque period ?

Re: External backup
Hi Julien,
You can make the backup copy job to start the synchronization process once in 7 days to achieve your goal.
Thanks!
