Feature request - Enterprise Manager "VM Quota"
Hello,
Being a service provider, our EM is integrated with vCloud Director.
The problem is: EM allows to configure quota by backup storage, but not by VMs.
On the other hand Veeam itself have no storage-licence, there is just per-VM licence.
So, our customers (tenants) have a possibility to exceed the contractual count of backuped VMs. That affects on payments and ability to develop the Veeam backup business.
The only reason we're using Veeam Enterprise+ licence is for our customers to have an access to manage their backups through vCD+EM, but mentioned problem negates that.
Upon opening Support Case (06328166), I received a reply:
*At the moment it is only possible to bill tenants with help of Power Shell script:
https://github.com/VeeamHub/powershell/ ... sageReport
*Veeam Service Provider Console v8 (to be released in December) plans to add billing functionality (by tenant).
Ultimately, with the billing capabilities already in place, would be ideal if one could control the number of VMs that customers can backup.

... maybe not just a "VM Quota", but "license instances Quota" that tenant cat use would also help/

+1
Agree - VMs quota for tenants would be nice option.

As it turns out, "Veeam Service Provider Console v8" is only for "Veeam Cloud connect" scenarios.
So, no billing.
So, no billing.

Actually, it is not. While Veeam Service Provider Console requires installation of Veeam Cloud Connect at the moment, you don't need to use it. We fully support hosted scenarios for VBR, Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 etc.
