Hi all,
in quite complex scenarios (more than 500 virtual machines) such as the one we manage, to define a backup job for each VMFS/NFS target is a very common practice.
Using a single VMFS as a target leads to a series of benefits from both the point of balancing backup activities and the automatism with which
new VMs can be included in a backup job without changing it.
In these cases, enabling VSS backup at the job level (as we're doing now) but filtering it with the OS type of virtual machines running on the target datastore, excluding all operating systems
not compatible with VSS, it would be a great help to avoid having to manually manage al the exceptions (e.g. Linux vm).
More generally, anything possible to increase the automation and intelligence of backup jobs that use datastore as a target is absolutely welcome to ensure that a good product like Veeam BAR may be more valuable.
