Hi,
We have a few sites whereas the VM can not be snapshotted, but does need a backup.
We can use Agents to fix the "snap" freeze and create a backup.
However wouldn't it be a great option in CDP to have a 'external' LONG-TERM option where you can set aside the current state of the VM to an alternative location, preferably another device? This not only saves disk space on the target datastore, but would also grant the ability to get a 'backup' or 'state' offsite and to not have a separate agent installed. E.g. no direct influence on the VM itself at all.

Re: Feature request: Seperate CDP Long-Term option
Hi, Stefan,
I think it's another example of why certain technology cannot be viewed as "one size fits all" solution. CDP is certainly not a backup feature and solves different use cases than creating a long-term restore points on a separate media. The fact that it's first occasion where such request is brought to the table just confirms this.
So we appreciate the feedback, but have no plans to implement something similar in the nearest future.
Thanks!

Re: Feature request: Seperate CDP Long-Term option
We may consider using our CDP engine in non-streaming mode (aka CBT mode) for classic backups however.
