Feature Request - vCenter Tag Support
I will admit that I'm a bit behind on my reading about the new features in vCenter 5.1, however, after reading this post, it was brought to my attention that 5.1 now supports tags.

Similar to cvBarney, I was disappointed to find out that VBR 6.5 doesn't support this new feature. That being said, I have a feeling that there are many others out there who are using resource groups or folders to organize their VMs for VBR backups. The addition of tags in vCenter is a tremendously useful feature, but only when VBR supports it in the job configurations.
@Gostev: Is a forum topic such as this an acceptable way to request this feature and show it's importance to the Veeam community through responses (or lack thereof if Barney and I are the only two that want it) or do we all need to submit Severity 4 tickets with support?
Thank you!

Hi Brian, yes, this is the way feature requests should be submitted, no need to open support tickets. Thanks!

Thanks Vitaliy, even though I forgot to include you on my OP.

Re: Feature Request - vCenter Tag Support
So I have researched this, and tags appear to be user interface only feature available only in vSphere web client. This information is not available through vCenter, and there aren’t any programmatic interfaces for the tags in web client.
This obviously makes tags impractical for any sort of serious use.

Re: Feature Request - vCenter Tag Support
Uhm, this is strange however, VCDB is supposed to hold all the data we can see in the vcenter client, regardless is the C# or the web one... where is it saving tags if not into the VCDB?

Resurrecting this request with the hope that it is now exposed. I'd like to have the ability to tag VMs and then have Veeam automatically pick them up in jobs that look for those tags.

Hi, Shane,
As mentioned in the adjacent thread, VMware has made TAGs exposed via PowerCLI in vSphere 5.5. So, now you can create backup jobs based on VMware TAGs with Veeam PowerShell script.
Thanks.
