Feature Request - VM overview including back-up set.

Post by Rob@KB »

We have a lot of VMware Servers and a lot of Engineers, a mistake is easy to make.

I like to see an overview of the Servers, you could use the one under "virtual machines", "Infrastructure", "VMWare vSphere" to show the VM's and in which back-up set the are located.

So it is easy to see if a VM is in a back-up set at all.

Kind regards....

Hi Rob,

Did you try the Veeam Enterprise Manager? You can install it without additional cost.

With Veeam Enterprise Manager you have complete visibility which VM is backed up in which repository. You see which job had some issues, how many jobs were successfull and so on.

And you can also create access rules for your engineers, so every engineer can do what he is allowed to do.

Perhaps worth a try...

Hello Karl,

Thank you for the quick reply,

We are using Veeam standard, can you use the Veeam Enterprise Manager with Veaam Standard?

Sadly the only thing i want is that quick look at the vmware structure with the back-up set.

Kind regards.

Yes, you can install and use Veeam Enterprise Manager with all Veeam Editions.

Enterprise and Enterprise Plus versions also include full job management functions and restore possibilities, which is not included in Standard.

That looks more like it but it's a bit confusing.

Does the interface connect to vcenter? or does it just populate the vm's and back-up sets from the Veaam Server?

What if there is a vm missing in the back-up?

It has a "VMS" tab where all VMs that have been backed up are shown. If you'd like to be notified about unprotected VMs, take a look at this Veeam ONE report. Thanks.

Thats why i submitted this feature request. I don't want additional software. I just want to see in the Veeam console if a vm is unprotected. how hard can this be?

Kind regards.
