File type Exclude?

Post by Stephenv »

i was thinking about backing up virtual desktop's, however is there a way to exclude a file type like .ost (offline mail) i know it may not be possible though.
the reason for blocking .ost is well the data is on the exchange server. plus it will rebuild the .ost if it is missing on the desktop.

Hello Stephen,

That's not possible to do, only swap files are excluded automatically with v6. However you can you this procedure to exclude *.ost files from the backups:

1. Place *.ost file on a separate virtual disk
2. Exclude this disk via backup/replication job properties

Hope this helps!

Plus, you may actually have issues backing up your virtual desktops depending on how your architected your VDI deployment. You may want to test this first. Thanks.
