Filtering Jobs by Operating System

Post by jfrmilner »

I have a mix of Linux, BSD and Windows Servers on vSphere 5. I currently have a backup job that backs up at the DC level which I like as it automatically adds new VMs to the current job. The environment is expanding and I would like to separate to three jobs, one for each of the OS types. Unfortunately I cannot use Folders within vSphere as they contain a mix of OSs, is there a way to filter by Operating System?

John, no such functionality in the UI, but you can do the following: use Veeam ONE to categorize VMs according to OS type/version and populate VMs' custom attributes with this data. Then use some kind of script to assign VMs to the corresponding jobs.
