Free space amount on datastore.

Hello;

i want to backup a VM which size is 2 TB.
what is the minumum size required where the VM works (datastore) ?

2 TB VM + 2 TM for snapshot ?

it depends on how long the backup duration will be and how many data changes during the time the backup is running and the snapshot is present. worst case yes you would need 2TB free space. But normaly i would say 10-20% free space is fine.

Yes, Andre is correct you will need to reserve at least 10-20% of free space on the datastore for this VM, especially during full backup job runs.
