Am planning to upgrade from vCenter v5.1 Update 3 to v5.5 Update 3e shortly.
(future plans would be to move to VCSA instead of having a Windows Server VM).
Have done some reading about prerequisites and process.
Will be doing an in-place upgrade (am not building a new server).
Just wondering if there are any gotchas that I should be aware of?
I know there's always a risk of VM ID changes when doing upgrades.
I thought I'd read something recently about possible issues with SureBackup (vLab stuff).

Re: From vCenter v5.1 U3 to v5.5 U3e
Hi Stephen, there should not be issues, since VM IDs are not changed in case of in-place upgrade.

Re: From vCenter v5.1 U3 to v5.5 U3e
Completed the upgrade to vCenter v5.5 Update 3e yesterday and there were only some minor glitches in the initial part when upgrading Single Sign On (the installer reported certificate problems, however this seems to have been a false-positive, as after investigating I decided to proceed with the upgrade anyway, trusting in my Veeam backup and a VMware snapshot to bail me out).
Some additional good news: I had been getting an SSL/TLS error in the System event log on my VBR server (Event ID 36888) every time a backup was run. Backups were working fine, but it was a bit disconcerting. After the upgrade to vCenter v5.5 (and presumably new self-signed certs being created?) the event log errors are gone.
