Hello. We recently performed a full VM restore and noticed that immediately after the restore was complete, a new AD record was created for a MS default computer name - WIN-??????. Does anyone know of the mechanisms in play here that would cause Veeam to create this record?
We assumed that the restored VM would just be using its existing AD registration, possibly needed dropped/re-added because it was out of sync. Putting in the default computer name, however, is a little odd and something we would need to look out for.
Thanks for any info.

It was restored to the original location with an alternative name, so restored with different settings.

So basically it is a new VM and no wonder new record was created for it.

Re: Full VM Restore - AD Record Created
Hi Justin,
What I like to do when doing a full VM restore to a different name is:
Choose not to boot after restore.
Go into Vsphere/Vmware and choose not to connect NIC on boot up
Power UP the new VM
Go in to VM using the console
Change any network settings, including hostname
Choose to connect NIC at boot and reboot
D.
