gateway server

Post by balma01 »

I have a repository on a DataDomain using DDbost over TCP/IP
The repository is set to select the gateway server automatically.
I have many hot add proxies.
Running a job, all the proxys take cares of some VMDK.
The question is: how many gateway server are involved in this situation?
How can I know the gatway servers used by a job ?

Do you use per-VM backup chains? Depending on this repository setting, the job may or may not be able to use multiple gateway servers. If I'm not mistaken, selected gateway servers names are not logged in the job session, but you can definitely find them in the log files.

Yes, I use per VM chains so every proxy is using himself as gateway. And during a backup copy from this repository to anothed datadomain with automatic selection how many gateways are involved?

I think the rule is that the Mount Server is used for this and then fallback to B&R Server if mount server is not usable.
So only one server do the transport.
