Hy!
I configured a GFS Media Pool with the default setting:
Retention:
Daily: 14 days
Weekly: 4 weeks
Monthly: 12 months
Quartely: 3 quarters
Yearly: 1 years
Backup to tape job config:
Daily backup: everyday
Weekly backup: sunday
Monthly backup: first sunday of the month
Quartely backup: first sunday of the quarter
Yearly backup: first sunday of the year
The GFS backup to tape job run firstly yesterday 5:00pm. I checked the log and I realized that the Daily Media Set backup all the backup chain with the full backup file. Is this the normal behaviour? So until isn't there weekly or something full backup, the daily media set will be archive the full backup too and the incremental?
Thanks.

Re: GFS backup to tape job working process
Hi Adam
Yes. If you just created the job, the first run needs to create a full backup. Without this full backup you will not be able to restore any data from incremental backups.
If there is no full backup available on a previous media set of this tape job, the tape job will create a virtual full backup on the daily media set.
