GuestIndexData.zip remains after deleting VM from disk

Post by james411 » Jun 06, 2015 6:57 pm

Hi,

I am assuming this is a Veeam issue, but I just wanted to clarify. I had restored a VM (Veeam 6.5) to a different name to test the restore process. I later deleted the VM from disk using vCenter. Browsing my datastore, I see the folder for the VM still exists and there is one file in there called GuestIndexData.zip. I assume this is safe to delete, but would just like to confirm it is Veeam leaving this file. Thanks!

The referenced files are related to Veeam, indeed. Those are indexes used to perform file search from the EM.

However, I honestly have no idea why they are located on the datastore, not inside VBRCatalog that typically is present on a backup server.

Thanks.

That is why I was confused too. I will go ahead and delete the folder and file.
