Heads Up: Issues with Veeam and MS KB3006137
Just a heads up for Veeam B&R and Monitor users:
I had a sudden disconnect this past weekend between my Veeam 8.1 B&R and Veeam One Monitor to my Vsphere VMCenter (4.5) server. For no apparent reason, the two stopped communicating and I could not get either Veeam B&R or One to see the VCenter. Trying to delete and reinstall repeatedly failed, giving a cryptic error about the connection having an issue on the receiving side.
After looking into the issue the only thing I could see that had happened in the interim to cause the issue was the installation of a Microsoft Hotfix to both my Veeam backup server and VCenter servers (win 2k8 r2). The hotfix, KB3006137, is kind of strange as it was deemed important enough for streaming out of patch rotation and supposedly focuses on a fix for the missing Euro currency symbol in Windows for Lithunia. I deleted the hotfix on my VCenter server and suddenly Veeam B&R and One started connecting again.
Not sure what the issue is with KB3006137, but if you have installed it and are having issues with connectivity to your VCenter server, you may want to uninstall.
This is my own experience, so please don't take it as a well known issue.
Thanks

Hi Alex, thanks for sharing this information, I will share it with our QC team and will post back once I have more information on this MS update behavior.
BTW, do you probably refer to v5.5 and not v4.5?

Just did a quick test with this hotfix and could not reproduce this issue with connection to the vCenter Server (v5.5). Looks like it was something else that has caused this issue, thanks for the heads up anyway!

Thanks for testing!
I was able to replicate by installing and uninstalling the hotfix on the same system.
Maybe it is peculiar to VCenter 4.5 or some unique interaction on my system.

Alex, can you please confirm that we are talking about vCenter Server v4.5 and not v4 or v5.5?

Hmm...but there is no vCenter Server v4.5 (or I have missed something). Can you post a screenshot here?

If it is not a GA version, then such issues can indeed happen
