How can get backup from Multiwritter disk type in virtual machine
Thanks.
Now just have one problem.
I have create 2vms and use Multi-writter for share a vdisk between them for oracle-rac.
have created a vm and after install OS, added new SCSI Controller1 with vMwae paravirtual type with scsi bus sharing = Physical
also disk mode is = dependent
now create a backup job and exclude all disk and just select scsi controller 0 but cannot get backup from this vm for Multiwritter is that logical?
show follow error : Task failed. Error: Cannot process scs3 (vm-1001): SCSI controller engaged in bus-sharing is present
Why cannot get backup from this vm whereas I have selected just scsi0 in veam backup job ?

Hello,
Looks like VMware limitation, according to our help center:
I think you may try to backup RAC by leveraging Veeam Agents managed by VBR instead.
Thanks!

Virtual machines with disks engaged in SCSI bus sharing are not supported for host-based backup, because VMware does not support snapshotting such VMs. To protect such VMs, use agent-based backup.

Re: How can get backup from Multiwritter disk type in virtual machine
Thanks. But I don't want get backup from multi-write disks . As I previously said due backup job wizard I excluded all multi-write disks (all multi-write disks use SCSI Controller1) and just select OS disk that use SCSI Controller0 .
What is the problem ?
What is the problem ?

The snapshot is created for the entire VM regardless of configured exclusions - this must explain the said error. Thanks!

Is that your means this is logical ? because we exclude all multi-write disk due backup job

Re: How can get backup from Multiwritter disk type in virtual machine
Correct, VM snapshot will be triggered for all virtual disks VM consists of, job-level exclusion does not change the way it works. To back up VM with bus-sharing enabled you need to use in-guest backup software (such as agents proposed above). Thanks!
