How can I tell whether hot add actually works?

Post by cosmik »

The subject says it all: I'm making some test backups to get the hang of veeam atm. How can I tell that a hotadd proxy mode is in effect (contrary to a network mode)? Does it show up in the Veeam BR logs somewhere?

Hi Michael

Yes, you can see the proxy transport mode in the job session logs:

Hello Fabian!

There is no reference to the backup proxy in my logs ("Using backup proxy blah blah..."):

EDIT: image uploading could be much MUCH better on this forum :s

Hi Michael

The proxy info will be available when you click on the processed vm on the left side.

You must add this link for the picture to work:

The person responsible for this UI decision should be strapped... :D Seriously, there would be no way to reach this information without asking in the forums or studying the (rather huge) documentation.

Thanks mate! :)

Your welcome :)

In my opinion it makes sense to separate it in the UI.
If you open the job, you see details and a summary regarding the entire job.
If you need to now the session details for a specific VM, you can click on the VM.

Not all VMs will necessarily use the same transport mode or have the same Outputs.
If you have every session detail about every VM in the "job view", it get's confusing. Imagine a Job with 200 VMs and every information is in the same window :)
