How Many Backup Proxies?

Post by stryker54141 »

I have a single location, with three VLANs: 1) VMware servers, 2) Veeam server, 3) Veeam backup repo. I already have a backup proxy on the VLAN with the VMware servers. Do I need another backup proxy on the VLAN with the backup repo?

Hello stryker54141,

Backup proxy is a data mover for Veeam B&R jobs and not the traffic proxy in a traditionally way. While the job is running you need to ensure that proxy can connect to the source and target, where source is you VMware servers and target is your repository; additionally proxy is controlled by B&R server so it must have connection with Veeam B&R server. Take a look at this article for more details: Requirements and Limitations for VMware Backup Proxies. Thank you!
