How to add vCenter server as standalone host

Post by lanzia »

Hi all,

B&R fails to backup the vCenter server with the following error: Unable to release guest. Error: VSSControl: Failed to freeze guest, wait timeout
Error: VSSControl: Failed to freeze guest, wait timeout

The provided solution in the following document is to add the vCenter server to Veeam as a standalone host: http://www.veeam.com/KB1051

Can anyone tell me how to do this?
When I add the vCenter server using its IP adres in "Virtual Machines - Add server" when finished it tells it added a vCenter server.
What do I need to do to add it as a standalone machine?

Thanks in advance

Alex

Alex, to backup vCenter VM, you should add the ESX host, where the vCenter VM resides, to the Veeam Backup console as a standalone host using its IP address. Not the vCenter itself.
