How to Clean manually removed backup from disk in Veeam B&R ?

Hi to everyone.
Maybe in wrong way, for store a defined periodical restore point ( 7 daily, one full for week for 2 month, etc), because there aren't this configuration in 9.5 up4 version, I remove from my repository manually my oldest incremental .vib files, for remaining the next full .vbk file (for remain showed restore point) , but in VB&R Console, in Disk , I continue to see all incremental restore point created, but removed from repository.
At this point, my questions are:
1) Is it possible to setup correctly VB&R for automate this kind of configuration?
2) at this point, is it possible to "check existing restore points" in my repository for clean and update disk restore point?
3) And what's is the right procedure for remove correctly older restore points?

Hi,

1. Can you clarify the exact retention policy you want to use?
2. If you already deleted some restore points manually, please use this option to sync-up the backup console.
3. Only retention policy should remove restore points. Doing that manually may lead to corrupted backup chains.

Thanks Vitaliy, here my answers:

1) I want this retention rules:
- n.1 daily (incremental) for last week
- full on saturday
- one full for any week, for last n.2 months
- one full a month for one year

2) Ok, I try it.

3) I remove only incremental backup and maintain the relative full weekly backup, Or I remove some full weekly and maintain one month full backup.
According to me, I don't corrupt backup chain, or I'm wrong??

1. In this case you need to configure 7 for restore points with GFS points enabled. As for the full backup, you can set either active or synthetic via these settings.
3. Yes, touching backup files manually is highly not recommended, even if you "know" what to delete

Is this option only in version 10? I haven't upgraded from 9.5u4

Hi Benji,

yes, GFS retention policy is described in v10 Release notes.
Working with 9.5u4 version, you don't have this option.

With v9.5u4 you can have GFS retention with the help of backup copy jobs though.
