Re: How to configure backupcopy for my retention policies
Hi,
You want to look at the backup copy job using GFS.
You want 0 Weekly
12 Monthly Copies ( 1 for every month )
0 Quarterly
7 Yearly Copies ( 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017)
Check out the restore point estimator, it might be able to help you.: http://rps.dewin.me

Hi and welcome to the community!
Additionally, I'd recommend you to review this article about GFS retention policy.
Also, you will be able to schedule monthly backup copies to run on the last day of each month.
The same for the yearly backup copy on the last day of December.

Hi,
It depends only on your requirements, please review this article about Retention policy.
It is also important, what backup copy interval was established.
Thanks!

Re: How to configure backupcopy for my retention policies
Hi,
does the retention of restore points only work when the copy job is scheduled, or should it also work when you manually perform a sync now operation on the backup copy job ?

Sync now creates new restore point. The retention policy is tied to number of restore points to keep. So, retention will be activated, even if you run Sync Now operation manually. Thanks.

Thanks, I tested this and seems to be that oldest one (.vbk) will be moved forward once a day. is this expected behaviour ?

Correct, that's the way retention works for forward forever incremental chain. Thanks.
