How to See if a VM has a Job

Post by GGearon »

I'm running Veeam BaR 9.5 to backup my VMware servers. I have a lot of different jobs running now, for many of the VMs. Some as individuals some as groups.

I occasionally get someone coming to me, asking if their server is being backed up. Is there a way to easily search based on the VM name, if there is a job already associated to it? Right now, I go through each group job, and look at the list of VMs being backed up. That is very time consuming and getting more so as I add more servers to Veeam.

The Protected VMs report in Veeam ONE allows to quickly check that. Thanks!

One thing I like to do is post the job results to the VM's notes attribute: Edit the VM backup job -> Storage -> Advanced Settinfgs -> Notifications. Then you can check via the Vsphere console in the Notes section of any VM to see what job and the last date of a good backup.
Another way using the Veeam console -> go to disk ->type in the VM name in the search field.

Also, if you don't have Veeam ONE installed, you might find this PS report useful. Thanks!

Great info. Driley, that is exactly the kind of fast, easy, thing I was looking for.
The report in Veeam One is pretty cool, I will have to play around with that. I might find some useful for management.

Thank you all.

[MERGED] [Feature Request] Backup Jobs column in Inventory view

Post by Magion »

I periodically check if all vm's are included in a backup job. Currently it's an manual exercise exporting a VM list from vSphere to Excel and then check all jobs in VB&R, match them with the exported list and see which VM's are not yet included.

I would like to see an extra column in the Inventory view, which lists the jobs each VM is configured in. This way I can easily see which vm's are not yet included in any job.

Do you have Veeam One? If so, go to Business View -> Virual Machines -> Last backup Date -> VMs with no backup

There's also a dedicated report in Veeam ONE for that, please see above.
