Immutable Repo problem, permission denied

Post by unsichtbarre »

OK, I created an Immutable Repo following all published info: Ubuntu 20.04, XFS -b size=4096 - it all went flawlessly
I added the repo to Veeam 11 using single use credentials. I Had both 'administrator' and 'root' passwords at this point, I selected single-use credentials, used the 'administrator' account with the option to 'elevate automatically' - worked perfectly and te repository was added to Veeam including FastClone!
I created and ran a backup job and I get this:

5/4/2021 2:03:28 PM :: Error: Permission denied
Failed to create directory '/mnt/server001-imu-01/server001/'
Agent failed to process method {FileSystem.DirectoryCreate}.

Any ideas? I will open support in the morning if I don't figure it out.

-JB

OK my mistake here. RTFM!

I completely spaced out to chown the folder created to the user specified when adding the hardened repo to Veeam

chown -R administrator:administrator /mnt/server001-imu-01/
chmod 700 /mnt/server001-imu-01/

It is also suspicious you deployed the repository using an account named "administrator" while you are supposed to use a limited user account instead... I will hope it's just a strange naming choice for a low-privileged user account!

Agreed, the name "administrator" is just an example - the actual account has no special privilege
