Re: Implementing Veeam CDP, [Continuous Data Protection]
Anton,
Will CDP be able to hit Cloud Connect? We are currently in a position to create a new cloud connect gateway in Azure for BaaS, but would really only seem viable if we can expand our services to CDP as well in the future.
Thanks

Jason, yes - it absolutely will. I just cannot be sure yet if this support makes the very first CDP release, or will only be delivered in the subsequent update. Thanks!

[MERGED] VEEAM V10 CDP
Have a customer using Cisco hyperflex which uses NFS for vmware datastores. Will CDP, which apparently is scheduled for V10, work with NFS volumes ?

Yes it should, however the final system requirements will only be finalized closer to the actual release. Thanks!

Hi everyone
I want to ask about CDP. I wonder is it necessary to use cache device? Infinio or Sandisk etc.

Sometimes next year, heavily depending on how long the stabilization will take.

CDP was never a scheduled feature for Update 4.
CDP will be part of the next release we currently have a technical preview that is showable via our SA and SE teams.

[MERGED] Backups/Replication agentless with no snapshots
Hello All,
I am wondering if Veeam will be developing the ability to take agentless backups without having to stun or put a VM into snapshot when taking backups or replication.
Zerto, Dell's RecoveryPoint, and IBM's Spectrum Protect are all utilizing the different style of backups (I believe block level) that do not impact production systems while backing up. This is very helpful especially when performing mid day backups or replication jobs.
Feature Request

Hello and welcome to the community Scott,
If you are asking about continuous data protection, then - yes. We are currently working on this feature and plan to provide this functionality soon.
P.S. I've merged your post to the existing discussion. Cheers!

[MERGED] Can we replicate VMs without taking snapshots ?
Hello everyone ,
We've been testing Veeam B&R in our organization for a couple of weeks now. We're mainly interested in its replication capabilities.
My question is , can we use replication without taking a snapshot of the VM for every job ? can we use the .vmdk as a seed for the replica ?
We need an RPO of 5 minutes , taking a snapshot every 5 minutes might cause some issues if we use it in production.
Thank You ,
Yazeed

Hi Yazeed,
Have you had a chance to take a look at the Replica Seeding feature?
Thanks and let me know if you require any additional information.

Hello wishr.
Yes I have , this is good for the first replication run. but the subsequent incremental runs will use snapshots. the main issue is taking snapshots too frequently.
Thank You

Hi Yazeed,
Original replication technology implies the involvement of snapshots during subsequent runs, however, we have some developments going on that may help you with your use-case once released. I've merged your topic to the related discussion - please take a brief look.
Thanks

[MERGED] VAIO
Whatever happened to this? It was listed as Veeam CDP and a new feature coming to V10 and then I know version numbering has been rethought or similar.
When I google around, it's like all talk of this was in 2017 and nothing has happened. If I understand it, this would mean that vmware snapshots would no longer be needed? This would be making Veeam similar to zerto, and could be utilized for both backup and replication.
Did some kind of halt get put on being able to move to this technology? Perhaps it wouldn't really benefit "backup once a day" people but would only matter for servers that you want hourly backups on etc?
Just curious.

CDP is still on our roadmap but this will not be used for backups but for replication enhancements.

Any update on this? It wasn’t mentioned yesterday on Veeam ON Virtual as one of the new features in the V10 presentation.

Re: Implementing Veeam CDP, [Continuous Data Protection]
Due to the nature of technology, it needs longer validation in the field than our usual beta length. So we decided to extend the private beta testing cycle for CDP (your help and involvement is really appreciated) - and ship it in the following update after v10, once it's more proven in the field. Thanks!

Just wanna say without telling too much since @wishr already mentioned that there is the technical preview: I love it!
I also encourage people who are interested with it, to get in contact with your veeam representatives and share your feedback with them!
