Re: Infrastructure design
How many VM's and how much storage do they take up ? Whats your desired retention ? do you need to take anythign off site ?

Re: Infrastructure design
Hi, Chose.
What about the storage you’re going to use as a target repository? Do you have any requirements for taking backup data off-site or requirements for guaranteeing minimal RPO/RTO for business critical VMs? Also, as mentioned above, it would be interesting to hear how much space on production storage is consumed by all VMs?
Thanks.

Re: Infrastructure design
Generally, your setup looks pretty straightforward. The requested information will allow to answer whether it is capable of handling the required backup load and probably give some additional advises.

Re: Infrastructure design
Well on netapp is 7tb volume for virtual machines, and RPO/RTO for business critical VMs, yes let say that would be nice to have database and app servers in this group.

Re: Infrastructure design
You can take this formula in order to estimate roughly the space that backup data will consume and, then, set retention period in accordance with resulting estimations.
Replication jobs are considered to be a best way for protecting business critical VMs and are supposed to provide you with minimal RPO/RTO. So, if you’re after minimal PRO/RTO, you might want to deploy additional host or decommissioned one and use it, afterwards, as a target for replication jobs.
Thanks.
