Hi All,
Is it possible to map a backup made from replicate ?
Scenario:
VM on SiteA is replicated to -> SiteB / replica_VM
I would like to backup VM to a repository on SiteB
Backup of replica_VM is not a good option, because CBT is reset every time replication job is run and new snapshot is added.
So I'm wondering if it should be possible to seed or map backup on SiteB
For example something along the line of
1) Create backup job#1 of replica_VM on SiteB do a full backup.
2) remove job#1 / keep backup.
3) create backup job#2 of VM on SiteA and map to existing chain from replica_VM on SiteB/repository
4) I guess it would require also changing Moref ID for VM / backup job#2 and removing/re-seeding replication job afterwards.
Creating new job for VM with SiteB/repository as a target and doing full backup is not an option due to size of VM / SiteA bandwidth.

Re: Is it possible to seed/map "backup job" based on Replicated VM ?
Hi Dmitry
Why not using backup copy job seeding? With seeding you will transfer the first full backup per usb disk or other storage to the second side and map the backup copy job to it?
https://www.veeam.com/kb1856
This would be supported.
Thanks
Fabian
That will be the issue. And changing Moref ID requires unsupported methods.I guess it would require also changing Moref ID for VM

Hello,
if you want to save bandwidth, then "replica from backup" should solve the issue.
Best regards,
Hannes

HannesK, Mildur,
Thank you for feedback. The main rational was to try to preserve restore points I have on SiteB.
But I guess I'll have to create a seed on SiteA and ship it with fedex and start from scratch.
