Issues with backing up 2012R2 connection broker with UPD?

We are putting up some 2012 R2 RDS farms.

The new connection brokers have some builtin SQL databases to keep track of RDS sessions and we are utilizing User Profile Disks which I have heard don't handle snapshot backups very well either.

Does anyone here have any experiences with backing up new 2012 R2 connection brokers for RDS farms? Any issues? Should we turn on application aware image processing or leave it off like we normally do for just straight RDS session hosts?
