Hi
one of our customers use Veeam 8 with latest Patch.
He has a lot of Backup Jobs for at least 40 VMs.
The jobs are doing a active full backup once a week and the rest of the days are incremental.
Sometimes when the full backup ist running he gets a warning at a single VM "Failed to index guest file system. VSSControl: Index failed".
After this message the VM is completely backuped. But at the end the Job hangs at 99% with this VM. Last Message is "Truncating transaction logs".
The Backup Job never ends and no further message is send per mail. We have to restart the backup server to get it going.
The problem only occure with full backups. But not every time.
And we get it with 6-8 different VMs. All Windows VMs with different roles like DCs, Exchange, RDS Host etc.
What can we do?
Thanks in advance
Bjoern

Re: Job hang at 99%
Hi Bjoern,
Have you tried to run the job with File Indexing disabled? Did the job work successfully?
I would also contact Veeam technical support to investigate the VSS issue.
Thanks!

Re: Job hang at 99%
No I have not tried the job without indexing.
I will have a try but it is strange because the next full backup run the indexing works normal.
I will test it and give a response.

I'd also check Event Log on the affected VMs for any related messages.
