Hello,
on a backup to disk job that is marked as successful i found this entry in the logfile:
22.04.2025 22:24:41 :: Transaction logs backup will not be possible due to insufficient permissions to update backupset for SQL instance : connection error
I understand its because the user under which the backup runs cannot access the SQL Server DB as its unknown in the SQL Server.
But is it normal that the whole backup job is marked as successful anyway? The job is set to require successful Application Aware Processing.
When i right click on the backup i cannot select "Restore Application Items.", so it seems to me i wouldnt be able to restore the SQL Server on this VM.

Re: Job marked as successful - but SQL Server Backup failed
Hello,
I'm not sure that this behavior is correct, I don’t think the job should report success in this case. Furthermore, I don’t understand why you cannot restore application items, restoring in Veeam Explorer for SQL Server must be available for image-level backups (without point-in-time restore). I need some time to discuss this behavior with the team.
Could you please open a support case and provide the support case ID? I'm curious why you cannot select "Restore Application Items". Have you checked the permissions for the SQL Server outlined on this page?
Thanks!
