Jobs fail when migrate ESXi hosts

Post by ITSSCloud »

Good morning.

We have formed a platform for VMware Datacenter containing several Cluster.
We also have a platform that makes Veeam backups of all our virtual machines.

We have created a new VMware cluster and move this several ESXi hosts who were in another cluster, since all backups released on machines that are hosted on the migrated hosts fail:

Code: Select all

We received the following error: Task failed Error: The object has been deleted or has Already Been completely not created.
After migrating between hosts Clusters, we performed a rescan of the datacenter from veeam itself, to pick up the changes, but jobs are still failing.

We have to go job to job and go looking for the machine to work again.

Would some other method to perform this operation and that all jobs are not fail?

Greetings and thanks.

Most likely, machines residing on a old cluster got new MorefIDs during migration (re-registration, etc). Thus, they couldn't be tracked any longer by backup console.

You need to re-add machines to the backup job. Also, expect full cycle to take place, as those VMs are considered to be new ones from backup server's perspective.

Thanks.

Thank you very much for the reply.

Since PowerShell would exist some method to perform the rescan of the host and that the failure of the jobs will not produce?

Thanks again

Support team has a migration tool allowing you to address scenarios when VMs have been migrated between vCenters. If you haven't run jobs against new cluster, you can try to contact them and see whether the tool is applicable to your situation.

Thanks.
