Large VM Backups go to 100%, then fail when removing snapsho

Post by wisecra »

Veeam Support Case # 00165337
Backups of my largest VMs go to 100%, then when removing snapshot, get a
|Error: Client error: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host Failed to process [sendSignature]. |
error and fail.

Don't think it's connectivity - Jobs on larger VMs progress to 100%, then fail when removing snapshots.

Smaller VMs seem to run fine. I don't see anything relevant in the knowledge base.... anyone have any ideas?

Veeam Support Case # 00165337
Environment:
+ Veeam 6.1.0.205 (64bit)
+ Replicating from one ESXi 5.0 host to one at a remote datacenter
+ WAN, 3mb limit set for business hours, and an 8mb limit set for afterhours.
+ Veaam backup server is at remote site, proxy servers are located at both sites.

Since the larger VM backups can run a long time (18 hours), maybe the snapshot removal is taking too long for Veeam - is there any way to extend the time waiting for the snapshot to finish being removed?

I doubt that, but our support team should definitively know whether it is possible to adjust these timeouts or not. Out of curiosity, what is the time interval between the snapshot removal API call and actual job failure?

I'm trying to parse the logs, but it looks like about 30-40 minutes after it hits 100% and starts removing the snapshots that it fails.

Hmm...30-40 minutes is a lot, lets see what our support team can say after reviewing your log files.
